Panels are usually formed by six industry experts, amongst which there are publishers, translators, academics, critics and booksellers. Panellists change every edition to allow as many people as possible to be part of the project. The panel meets twice and decisions are based on their knowledge, experience and intuition, as well as on reader’s reports. Members of the panel take their decisions with total independence.
The panel for the 2018 edition panel was formed by Daniela Petracco, Director of independent literature-in-translation specialist Europa Editions UK; Gary McKeone, Programme Director at St George´s House, Windsor Castle; Jacques Testard, publisher of Fitzcarraldo Editions and co-founder of The White Review; Lise Jones, translator and Steven Pryse, director of the bookshop Pickled Pepper Books.
