Lluís Prats was born in Terrassa in 1966. He studied Art and Archaeology at UAB and Girona Univeristy. For several years he worked as an historian. His book "Los genios del Renacimiento y del Barroco italiano" (The Geniuses of the Italian Renaisance and Barroque, Carroggio, 2006) won the Ministry of Culture's first Prize. He worked for many years as a secondary school teacher, has edited Art books, and has also directed a cinema production company in Los Angeles. He has published some twenty books ranging from young adult novels to historical essays. In 2018 he was awarded the prestigious Strega Ragazzi prize for "Hachiko" which also received the Josep M. Folch i Torres Prize in 2014. This book has sold more than 300,000 copies around the world and has been translated into 9 languages. In 2019 his book "Kambirí" won the Ramon Muntaner prize and ""Com caçar un alienígena" (How to catch an alien) won the Guillem Cifre de Colonya prize.
