At the School of War there has been a horrendous crime. A man has been murdered and his body cut up and disposed of in the drains. But not only that, the alleged murderer, Captain Vicente Agrelo, the school head, hero of the Cuban War, and a drunk, gambler and troublemaker, is in an incestuous relationship with his eldest daughter Virtudes. The murder victim was her lover, an older businessman who had promised to free her and her siblings from the control of their father. The papers talk of nothing else, relentlessly proclaiming the guilt of father and daughter, who have been arrested. Two lawyers are in charge of defending the two suspects, in a battle against each other to ensure justice, and their task is only made more difficult by the Captains' insistent denial and this daughter's erratic behaviour.
