To date there was no work examining the Camino as a way of ways. La Gran Obra de los Caminos de Santiago. Iter Stellarum is here to fill this void. Under the coordination of Antonio Segundo Vázquez Portomeñe, former head of the Department of Culture and Programmes of the Xacobeo Plan and expert on the Way of St. James, this collection seeks to draw all routes towards Compostela; paths which have become a benchmark of spirituality, but also art, history and even leisure for the whole world. The texts are accompanied by splendid photographs.
The collection will consist of twenty-five volumes, of which fourteen have so far been published, in turn divided into three series.
The first series, the subject of this brief, consists of eight volumes, which include comprehensively the philosophy of pilgrims, (Volume I) The figure of the Apostle and the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela (Volume II); the city of Santiago de Compostela, a Centre of Religiosity, Art and Culture in Western Europe (Volume III); the French Way in the Iberian Peninsula (Volumes IV-V-VI), and the Silver Way (Volumes VII-VIII).
The second series deals with the Portuguese Way; and the third, with the Primitive Way and the Northern Way.
