Miguel Anxo Murado

Born in Lugo in 1965, Anxo Murado is a writer and scriptwriter for film and TV. He is the author of a body of work that includes fiction (Memoria de derribos, Mércores de cinza), poetry (Lapidario dos heterodoxos, Bestiario dos descontentos) and theatre (A grande noite de Fiz, Historias peregrinas). In 1991 in 1994 he travelled to ex-Yugoslavia as a special envoy, an experience which gave rise to 'Ruído'. In 2001 he published the essay 'Caderno de Xapón'.

Murado has worked sporadically as a journalist. He lived for several years in the Middle East, where he worked for the U.N., the administration of the Palestinian Authority, and as a news correspondent; his book 'Fin de século en Palestina' came out of this period. He is currently a regular commentator on Spanish politics for the BBC World Service, as well as a columnist for various forms of media.
