Carlos Bardem (Madrid, 1963) is an actor and writer. Having studied for a degree in history and a diploma in international relations, he published his first book, 'Durango Perdido' in 1997. In 1999 his debut novel 'Muertes ejemplares' ('Exemplary Deaths') was shortlisted for the Premio Nadal. His second novel 'Buziana o el peso del alma' ('Buzian, or The Weight of the Soul') won the 2002 Premio Destino-Guión. In 2005 Plaza & Janés published 'La Bardem', the memoirs of his mother, Pilar. In 2009 he published 'Alacrán enamorado' ('Scorpion in Love'), a film adaptation of which was released in 2013, and in 2019 he published 'Mongo Blanco' ('White Mongo'), which won the 2020 Premio Espartaco for best historical novel of the year.
