1771年のバルセロナ。17歳のコンスタンサは、アメリカ大陸の副王に仕えていた外交官の父の死後リマを後にし、長旅を経てバルセロナの祖父母のもとに身を寄せる。リマの風景や味やテクスチャーを記憶に刻み、唯一の遺品である料理帖を手に旅してきたのだった。料理帖はペルーの副王の料理人である、彼女の最初の師匠アントワーヌ・シャンペルの直伝だった。バルセロナに落ち着いたコンスタンサは偉大な料理人になることを夢見るが、女性である故に門は閉ざされている。
