シュリア・アロンソ=ディアスは1961年ガリシア州ア・ルア生まれ。同地で高校、COU大学準備コースを終えたあと、1979年サンティアゴ・デ・コンポステラで心理学の勉強を始める。1981年1月ガリシア州政府で事務職員として働き始めるが、2008年9月に健康上の理由で退職。1980年代初頭、麻薬の世界と出会い、3年間ヘロイン中毒に苦しむが1985年に克服。しかし、麻薬は将来消すことのできない痕跡HIVを残した。
