1961年、カラカス生まれ。両親がスペインのラ・パルマ島出身でベネズエラに移住するが、彼女が２歳のときラ・パルマに戻り、そこで幼少期と思春期を過ごす。ビリャ・デ・マソの公立学校、サンタ・クルス・デ・ラ・パルマの女学校で学ぶ。学士（心理教育学）の学位を取得し、様々な教育課程での教育に携わる。現在、ラス・ベレディリャス中高等学校（テネリフェ）でカウンセラーをしている。執筆は彼女にとって個人的な楽しみであり、ほとんど秘密にしていた。本作は、教育者である著者の処女作。目を閉じて「どうなるだろう、もし…」と想像を膨らませたいという彼女の欲求は日ごとに強まるばかりだ。

(Caracas, 1961). Ihre Eltern stammten von der Insel La Palma. Sie wanderten nach Venezuela aus, kehrten aber wieder zurück, als sie zwei Jahre alt war. Sie verbrachte ihre Kindheit und Jugend auf der Insel.

María del Mar Rodríguez was born in Caracas in 1961. Her parents were from La Palma, and emigrated to Venezuela but returned to La Palma after two years, where their daughter grew up.
