本書の出発点となったイラストレーションは、2017年3月にボローニャSM出版賞という、児童書のイラストレーション分野で世界的に最も権威ある賞を授与された。人間の手の加えられていない自然は不思議に満ちている。そこに入り込むことは、見えない扉をくぐることだ。まわりの世界が一変し、私たちのアイデンティティーが揺らいでくる。青空のもと、何かが解き放たれる。音のない突風、私たちの中に常にあった存在とのつながり。どんな山であれ、山に迷いこむことは、それまでの自分の一部をなくすことを意味する。
