Valentín Fuster is Director General of the Cardiovascular Institute at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, and of the National Cardiovascular Research Centre (CNIC) in Spain.
A graduate and MD in Medicine and Surgery from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Barcelona, Dr. Fuster has held many important posts, including President of the American Heart Association and President of the World Heart Federation. His work centres on undertaking cutting edge research into understanding, preventing and treating  heart disease throughout the world. Notable among the many recognitions he has received for his work,  Dr. Fuster has been nominated Doctor Honoris Causa by twenty six universities, and has also been named Editor in Chief of the prestigious magazine Nature Reviews Cardiology.
