SYNOPSIS

A story told by a Breton nobleman that takes place during the French Revolution, a period chosen by Cunqueiro in order to surprise us with his historical knowledge and command of different literary registers.
The tales it contains are ghost stories told to the reader in the voice of the cantor Pontivy. In the time of the French Revolution, the church singer travels along the roads of Brittany accompanied by a procession of dead storytellers. In the words of Carballo Calero, 'the book's geographical and historical consitency is astonishing', and demonstrantes the profound knowledge Cunqueiro had of Breton poetry and the French customs of the revolutionary period.
Stories of mystery and crime, written with huge creative talent, which will captivate all sorts of readers. Published for the first time in 1956, today they are a classic of Galician literature.
