Bel Olid, Asterisc Agents
Bel Olid

Bel Olid (born Mataró, 1977) is a writer, translator and professor of translation at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. She came to public notice after winning the 2010 Documenta prize for her novel 'Una terra solitària' ('A Solitary Land') and won the Premi Rovelló de ensayo the same year for 'Les heroïnes contrataquen' ('The Heroines Counter-attack'). In 2012 she won the Roc Boronat prize for 'La mala reputació' ('Bad Reputation'), a short novel which was received with great acclaim by both critics and the public. She has published the short story anthology 'Vents més salvatges' ('Wildest Winds') and the picture books 'Gegantíssima' ('Giantissima') and 'Vivir con Hilda' ('Living With Hilda'), which won the Apel·les Mestres prize. She has held the post of president of the Conseil Européen des Associations de Traducteurs Littéraires (CEATL) and is currently president of the Catalan writers association Associació d’Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (AELC). She has recently published 'Feminisme de butxaca' ('Pocket Feminism') in which she addresses the on-going discrimination against women.
