Many women have had to take on the role of men throughout history to fulfill their ambitions or simply find a place in society. Centuries of discrimination and intolerance of women led some of the most rebellious to disguise themselves as men, better to fight an intransigent, absurd and unjust society, one that denied women the same rights as men. Based on the life of someone who really existed, our protagonist is a doctor and soldier in the Napoleonic Wars, tours the battlefields of Europe, is a prisoner in Spain and an emigrant in the new world. Her life is a lesson in determination and the courage to confront the hypocritical society in which she lived, as well as a rallying cry for later generations.
