SYNOPSIS

In 1992, antiques dealer Madame Claudel buys a mysterious, unsigned painting in a Paris street market. Extensive investigations lead her to believe that this could be Picasso’s missing Don Tancredo work which he painted for his first French exhibition. To verify this, the painting would first need to be authenticated by Picasso’s daughter Maya. The painting would ultimately represent a tribute by the master painter to his good friend Casamegas, who had committed suicide in Paris a short time before, as well as marking the beginning of the artist’s blue period. A fascinating story based on real events, this book represents a frenzied work of investigation which offers an acute insight into the intricacies of the international art market, and takes us on an exciting journey through time to bohemian Paris at the beginning of the 20th century.
