Considered one of the best Latin American narrators of the second half of the twentieth century, he was born in Bogotá in 1945.
He did some courses on Sociology at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. Literature, journalism and other art-related tasks were his occupations until he travelled abroad. He lived in Paris, Barcelona and Stockholm. At present he lives in Berlin and works as a freelance journalist, translator from German into Spanish and lecturer at universities and cultural centers.
