Katleen March

Kathleen March is Professor Emerita of Spanish, University of Maine. After years of research in Latin American literature, the study of Portuguese brought her to Galician and its literary process, always linked to linguistic, political, and social concerns. She has done over fifty book reviews and has, in recent years, turned almost exclusively to translation and visual interpretation of contemporary Galician literature.

A recent residency in translation in A Coruña intensifies her relationship with women writers and their use of the language to consistently renew and recreate what the culture has to offer, not only to readers in Galician, but also to readers in English translation.

Kathleen is the founder of the International Galician Studies Association (1985), was honored by an Homenaxe of the Consello da Cultura Galega, and by the award, given by A Xunta de Galicia, for international promotion of Galician culture. Her publications (articles, books, translations) include: Luz Pozo Garza, Marica Campo, Rosalía de Castro, Anxo Angueira, Manoel Antonio, Miguel Fernández Fernández, Susana Sanchez Arins, and numerous other authors.
