SYNOPSIS

In this book, the author relates the story of the archaeological expedition led by Thor Heyerdahl to Easter Island in 1987. Francesc Amorós and Antoni Pujador were invited to accompany the explorer. From the viewpoint of the archaeologist, Amorós interprets the discoveries and the daily life of the members of the expedition under Heyerdahl's command, over fifty years after the appearance of his famous work, Aku-Aku. The years have not passed in vain: the small cosmos that, at the time, seemed unalterable, has gradually, irrevocably been transformed once a year, during the great 'Tapati Rapanui' festival: the past has not been forgotten. The archaeological sites have been 'museified' to protect them. The coral sands of the Anakena valley has re-covered the archaeological remains of Nau-Nau, disinterred in 1987.
