'A paso de tortuga' ('Slow as a Tortoise') is a traditional African story; a fable starring the wisest, most patient and long-lived animal and how he managed to save all the animals. Because neither the speedy and cunning hare, nor the big, imposing elephant, nor the rhinoceros or the chimpanzee... managed to pass on the formula for survival known to the boa constrictor - an animal associated with danger, cruelty and death in western culture. In addition to challenging certain prejudices, this adaptation of a traditional tale also focuses on the supremacy that we humans have exercised over the other inhabitants of the planet since time immemorial, disrupting the equilibrium and harmony between species. A story with a lively narrative based in structured dialogues, skilful narrative twists and repetition that refers back to its spoken-word origins.
