A Spanish diplomat travels to Liberia with the aim of finding a compatriot who has disappeared. When Charles Taylor’s militiamen take Monrovia, many citizens take refuge in the embassy. After an armed group attacks the building, nothing more is known about the people who hid there. Among them is T, a Spanish official who refused to leave the building unless all its black occupants came with him. The diplomat sets out to untangle the mystery of T’s disappearance, penetrating as he does so the country’s most devastated zones and bearing witness to the moral degradation of those who are victims and executioners of the brutality. Nada Puede El Sol is a story based on an episode from Africa’s recent history, in which all the facts of the investigation and its later solution form part of a narrative world that essentially speaks of the human condition.
