SYNOPSIS

Lisbon, November 1942. Portugal has received an ultimatum to go to war. The terror of Nazi occupation or Allied bombing takes over the city. In one long, single night, thousands of refugees from all over Europe wait for the boat Boa Esperança (good hope) to depart so they can save themselves. However, the moment the boat arrives a bomb explodes on board an ocean liner about to leave, leaving the refugees with no possibility of leaving the country for an indeterminate time. In this most secret stories of a unique period in history: the Argentinia consul, the mythical partner of Tania and tango composer Enrique Santos Descépolo, the fado singer Amalia Rodríguez, and the mysterious Ricardo De Sanctis, who claims he is a banker and a “personal refugge” from the Cardenal of Lisbon.
