What nobody knows is that Bashō is in fact a melancholy ninja with a painful debt to settle with his past and that his journey is entwined in one of the greatest political conspiracies in Japan's history, the implications of which among the vengeful clans and wicked members of the Tokugawa government will facture the peace that was won at a cost of great bloodshed and sacrifice. The leader of the shōgun wants to rule Japan. All his conspiracies have this same goal. The only one who knows this is a ninja-turned-poet. Only his incredible journey will be able to restore peace.
