Antonio, a young man from Madrid in his forties, is like so many others the victim of the financial crisis shaking the world. Overwhelmed by his mortgage and a relationship that is going under, he decides to try his luck at the wheel of a taxi, which becomes a sort of magic grotto for him, where he gradually weaves his own destiny. A series of incredible coincidences lead him to discover a forgotten love: writing. Using his customers, he slowly fleshes out a novel in which he himself, without realising it, is the main protagonist. Various different characters and real and fictional stories are intertwined but, as almost always happens, the former end up outdoing the latter.
