SYNOPSIS

Gaspar Cassadó (1897 - 1966) was one of the most internationally famous and most important cellists of the twentieth century. His virtuosity and musicality made him a unique performer who was particularly outstanding for helping to expand and spread musical literature for cello. Cassadó was also a composer and many of his works have been assimilated into the repertoire of great instrumentalists. This first biography seeks to approach his personal life and art through his concerts, his works and recordings, and through the direct testimony of prominent names in the world of music who had the privilege to live near him and listen closely.
