Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy has been responsible for the most significant food industry crisis in the European Union. This disease has had an enormous impact on public health, the economy and politics.
It is interesting to deepen our understanding of the individual characteristics of Prion diseases in relation to etiology, pathogenesis, genetic transmission, diagnostics and epidemiology, as well as the ultimate advances in treatment, prevention and bio-security with regard to its causal agent.
