Murder on a London Beach actually takes place on the shores of Tenerife, with a new case for the series' heroine, María Anchieta, who must investigate the crime of a British citizen. The novel is also a scenic journey through the different places in the story, and focuses on certain places to describe its landscape. In the author's own words, "I think the novel has something else. There is good architecture, art and natural beauty, and real landscapes from the places I've visited." Murder on a London Beach has several characters that represent modern women, not only Inspector Anchieta but also Salma Kubichet and Commissioner Marina
