Sònia Hernández

Sonia Hernández (Tarrasa, Barcelona, 1976) is a Spanish writer and journalist. In 2006, she published her first book of poem, La casa del mar (The House by the Sea) which was followed in 2010 by Los nombres del tiempo (The Names of Time). As a writer of narrative she has written the story books, Los enfermos erróneos (The Mistaken Sick) (2008) and La propagación del silencio (The Propogation of Silence) (2013), as well as the novels La mujer de Rapallo (Rapallo's Wife) in 2010 - the same year in which the prestigious British magazine Granta included her in a selection of the best young writers in Spanish - and Los Pissimboni, published by Acantilado in 2015. She is a member of the Grupo de Estudios del Exilio Literario (GEXEL) (a group dedicated to recording and promoting literary work by Spaniards forced into exile after the Civil War) under whose auspices she has carried out various research projects on Max Aub and, most recently, Vicente Rojo. As a journalist, she is a regular contributor to the Cultura/s supplement of the Barcelona-based newspaper La Vanguardia.
