Pío Moa

Pío Moa (Vigo, 1948), an extreme left-wing activist in his youth, is today a historian who has widely research and written on the Spanish Civil War. His books are very famous and enjoy high sales. Moa has published, among others, the following works: Los orígenes de la guerra civil española (The Origins of the Spanish Civil War, 1999), Los personajes de la República vistos por ellos mismos (The Leading Characters of the Republic in Their Own Eyes, 2000), El derrumbe de la Segunda República y la guerra civil (The Fall of the Second Republic and the Civil War, 2001), ‘De un tiempo y de un país’ (Of a Time and a Country’, 2002), Los mitos de la guerra civil (The Myths of the Civil War, 2003), Una historia chocante: los nacionalistas catalán y vasco en la historia contemporánea de España (A Shocking Story: catalan and basque Nationalist in the History of Contemporary Spain, 2004), Los crímenes de la guerra civil y otras polémicas (The Crimes of the Civil War and Other Controversies, 2004), Franco: un balance histórico (Franco: A Historical Evaluation, 2005) and Años de hierro (Iron Years, 2008).
