Pere Marti
Pere Marti

Pere Martí i Bertran was born in Sant Quirze de Besora, in Osona, in 1952. He has written a large number of children’s and young adult books, featuring the themes of ecology and animals’ place in the debate, characterised by his realist style and clever use of language. Some of his work had been published in braille and translated from Catalan into Spanish, Galician and Basque, and Martí has also translated several Spanish and French books into Catalan. He worked as a Catalan language and literature secondary school teacher until 2013, and he works with other media, in which he has published numerous articles and essays on children’s and young adult fiction and pedagogy. He has also worked as a literary appraiser for publishing companies, as a judge on literary prize panels, and in the organisation of conferences, congresses and other events related to literature.
