PEDRO RUIZ GARCIA

Born in Quintanar del Rey, Cuenca, in 1978. He has worked as a teacher in various schools and residential schools in Castilla-La Mancha, as well as at centres in Colombia and Marocco. At university, and while reading a book that he loved (You Will Die in Chafarinas, by Fernando Lalana), he felt the impulse to create his own stories. It was then that he began to write novels. In 2006 he won the I Tritoma Young Fiction Prize with No-one Said It Would Be Easy. He has also published the books Space Adventure and The Twelfth Night Mystery. HIs children's book Obe the Sheep won the Accésit del Certamen Nacional de Calamonte, also in 2006. The first idea for The Scriptorium Mystery, which was shortlisted for the Gran Angular Prize 2012, came to him during a guided night-time walk around Toledo when he discovered some of the secrets that the city holds.
