Nereida Carrillo has a PhD in Communication and Journalism from the Autónoma University, Barcelona. She is a journalist, researcher, and teacher. She started the Learn to Check project, an open access course that teaches the basics of fact-checking and promotes critical thinking as a way to combat ‘fake news’. Since then, her mission has been to create courses and other projects focussing on media education.
