María Oruña

María Oruña (Vigo, 1977) lives in Galicia, although her father is Cantabrian and she spends a lot of summers in Cantabria, where Hidden Port is set. She is a lawyer and practiced law for ten years before taking a break to research, write and be a mother. She is now practicing again and collecting information for another novel which, although its plot is unconnected to Hidden Port, will feature the same characters and resolve a secondary plot line from the first book. In 2013 she published The Archer's Hand (BUBOK) which, although a work of fiction, contains a lot of legal material because it doesn't simply tackle subjects such as bravery, motherhood and friendship but also, and moreover, workplace harassment. She has previously contributed to www.galiciaencantada.com with short stories such as The Woman of the Wind.
