Manuel Vilas (Barbastro, 1962), narrator and poet, is truly ahead of his time. He is the author of three short story collections and several novels, including ORDESA (2018), an autobiographical novel that surprised critics and Spanish readers with an honesty rarely found in literature. It sold over 250,000 copies worldwide and won the coveted Prix Fémina Étranger in 2019. That same year, ALEGRÍA, a Planeta Award finalist, was published, followed by LOS BESOS (2021). In 2023, his latest novel WE won the Nadal Prize, one of the oldest and most prestigious literary awards in Spain. His collection of poems RESURRECCIÓN (2005) received the XV Jaime Gil de Biedma Poetry Prize, and CALOR (2008) won the VI Fray Luis de León Prize, earning rave reviews and being considered one of the best books of the year according to Quimera magazine. He currently lives in Iowa, where he teaches creative writing.
