Born in Salamanca in 1922, Francisco Rodríguez Adrados’ long intellectual career puts him in a place of honour in recent Spanish culture. He is a classicist, an expert on India, a linguist and a historian, Emeritus Professor at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Doctor Honoris Causa at the Universidad de Salamanca and member of the Reales Academias de Lengua y Historia (Royal Academies of Language and History), of the Academia de Atenas and the Academia Argentina de las Letras. He is the author of numerous books and has published articles in all the main newspapers and in specialist magazines.
