Calabuig has a degree in philosophy. He is a writer, literary critic for 'El Mundo''s 'El Cultural' supplement and translator from German. He works as a philosophy teacher at a school in Madrid. He has previously published a novel, 'Expuestos' ('Exposed') (2010) and three short story collections, 'Un mortal sin pirueta' ('A Somersault without a Twist') (2008), 'Caminos anfibios' ('Amphibious Walks') (2014), which was shortlisted for the 2013 Ribera del Duero International Short Story Prize, and 'La playa y el tiempo' ('The Beach and Time'), which were also published by Tres Hermanas.
