Emili Teixidor was born in 1933. After studying law, philosophy and arts, and journalism, he spent several years teaching. He is the author of an extensive and highly varied oeuvre, most of it translated into many languages and having won many prizes. 'Pa negre' was awarded the M. Ángels Anglada prize, the 'Lletra d'Or, the Joan Crexells and the National prize for Culture and Literature.
Three years later, he published the novela 'Laura Sants' and, in 2010, 'Els convidats'. Teixidor is one of the greatest names in contemporary Spanish fiction.
