His books have been translated into half a dozen languages and include the best seller El Director, his memoires of the year as editor-in-chief of El Mundo. He also wrote Children of the Monsoon, which won the Camino del Cid International Travel Literature Award; The Happiest Place in the World, and The Bellboy of Kabul, a novel inspired by his coverage of the Afghan conflict.
