Carlos Poveda was born in Madrid in 1959. He graduated in Economics and Business Sciences from the Universidad Complutense in 1981. He worked for several years in a multinational company, spending some time in its offices in Silicon Valley, California, and has occasionally undertaken other tasks, such as teaching. He is now a director of an investment company. He won the Círculo de Lectores prize for his first novel: Balada del Pacífico Sur (Ballad of the South Pacific), in which his two great passions play a role: jazz and the sea.
