Ara Antón is a writer. Some time ago she left teaching behind to dedicate herself to full time historical research and literary creation. She has acted as judge for various literary prizes and is an assiduous contributor to the Tribuna del Diario de León and other specialised magazines such as Legio and Argutorio. She is an expert in the history of Spain and regularly speaks on the historical personages of that country. Her first novel, El velo (The Veil) won the Camilo José Cela fiction prize. Her later novel, Las fuentes de salud (Sources of Health), was awarded the Ciudad de Majadahonda prize. She has published over ten novels, particularly in the field of the historical novel and children's fiction.
