Antoni Pladevall i Arumí (Taradell, Osona, 1961) is a doctor in Classics and a professor of Greek and Latin. He has dedicated his writing and research to poetry, narrative, literary criticism and cultural historiography.
He first became known through his poems Les noies de l’hoste, included in the collection 6 poetes 83 (Premi Amadeu Oller 1983). He has published reviews and articles on literary themes in Revista de Catalunya, Reduccions, Els Marges and Serra d’Or, and historical studies in Llengua & Literatura,
Anuari Verdaguer and, above all, Ausa, the magazine of the Patronat d’Estudis Osonencs, of which he was a director between 1990 and 1994.
Among his works are the essay La il·lustració a Vic. Les aportacions de Francesc de Veyan i Mola i Llucià Gallissà i Costa (2000), the diary La mentida original (2000), the volume of brief prose pieces Quadern de Can Garbells (2002) and the novels La lliça bruta (2001), Massey Ferguson 35 (2003) and Terres de lloguer (Premi Pin i Soler 2005 i Premi Amat-Piniella 2007, Columna 2006). La papallona negra received the Premi Carlemany 2008.
