Aníbal Malvar

Aníbal Malvar (A Coruña, 1964) published his first book at the age of twenty-six, which is also when he began to write for the newspapers, specialising in drug trafficking, ETA and other mafias. In 2008 Inéditor published a Spanish translation of the original Galician version of his novel 'Una noche con Carla' ('One Night With Carla'), an in-depth analysis of political corruption in 90s Galicia, for which he was awarded the 1995 Xerais prize. In 2012 Akal published 'La balada de los miserables' ('The Ballad of the Wretched'), the French translation of which won the Violeta Negra prize. His literary work is based on the political, social and criminal reality to which he has been exposed as a journalist. In the past he has worked for El Correo Gallego, Antena3 Radio, Radiovoz and El Mundo. He is currently a columnist for Público and a contributor to Cuarto Poder.
