Andrea Ferrari was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on 13th December 1961. She is a literary translator, working between Spanish and English, and as such began working in the print media. However, after a while she started to write short reviews and articles, until journalism became a full-time activity. In Argentina, she worked as the journalism coordinator of the magazine El Porteño and in 1987 joined the staff of the newspaper Página/12. She now recalls that she took her first steps into literature with the stories she wrote for her daughter Valeria who, though no longer a child, continues to be her first reader and greatest admirer.
