ALBERTO IRIGOYEN (Montevideo, 1959). A historian and writer, with an honorary doctorate from the Universidad del Este (La Plata, Argentina), he has twice won the Andrés de Irujo Prize awarded by the Basque Government for the works Laurak Bat de Montevideo, primera euskal etxea del mundo [Laurak Bat of Montevideo, the first Basque club in the world] (SCPGV, 1999), and La Sociedad de Confraternidad Vasca Euskal Erria de Montevideo, Uruguay [The Euskal Erria Basque Fellowship Society of Montevideo, Uruguay] (SCPGV, 2007), the latter co-authored with Xabier Irujo. XABIER IRUJO (Caracas, 1967). A graduate in Philology, History and Philosophy, he holds doctorates in History and Philosophy. He is director of the Centre for Basque Studies at the University of Nevada. He has devoted the last fifteen years to the study of the terror bombings on Basque territory; the result of this research is his trilogy on the bombing of Gernika, which includes the historiographical essays Gernika: The Market Day Massacre (University of Nevada Press)
