Nicolle's dreams  are in tatters. She wants to be a painter and exhibit in Barcelona's best galleries, but in truth, all she has done in the city is have an affaire with a married man - something that has got her nowhere. So, she decides to go back to Seville, where she was born and where her father, inspector Beaumont, and her best and oldest friends await her. Her father is in the middle of investigating a series of art thefts in the city. She starts a new relationship, this time with an art fanatic called Leo. But one day, the amulet that she had brought back with her from Barcelona separates them. What is it? Where has it come from? What does it mean? What is the Mnosine society?
