SYNOPSIS

The Bird Seller is one of the key characters in this novel by Robert Brasillach, for around him orbits a whole universe of hyper-Parisian characters from the 1930s. Three young students at the Sorbonne, including the young and daring Isabelle; a shopkeeper, Marie Lepetitcorps, whose solitary life, marked by her past, is suddenly altered and filled - through the fault of another key character, the Goat - by the appearance of two disoriented young men, Serge and Michel. The Bird Seller is Robert Brasillach's third novel. The boy had taken off his cap and was swinging his legs methodically. The cages were placed between the two characters. From time to time, the little boy leaned over to look at her and asked a specific question, in a confident tone that dismantled the old man's arguments a little.
