After the death of his last incarnation, members of the Imperial Council arrive in a small village in search of a newly born child who houses the soul of His Divinity, and who, therefore, must occupy the throne. This is the story of Vintanelalandali, the seventeenth incarnation of the Eternal Emperor, educated from childhood to take the reins of the empire as soon as his powers are rekindled. But it is also the story  of Kelan, a boy who grew up in a  remote corner of Akidavia, whose life is suddenly changed on the day he decides to challenge the local authorities. When their paths cross, the future of the empire takes an unexpected turn.
