Welcome to the Spring issue of New Spanish Books. At a time when the Spanish publishing industry is gathered at the London Book Fair, we bring you fresh information on Spanish titles with available translation rights and news about the Spanish publishing scene. We are delighted to say that last year the number of books translated to English from Spanish in the UK experienced a sharp increase, the figure rising to over one hundred titles.

But remember, New Spanish Books is more than a shop window. Scroll through the pages and you’ll find readers' reviews on a shortlist of titles specially chosen by a panel of experts; an interview with Peter Florence, Director of the Hay Festival; an article by journalist Julian Evans and much much more. Whether you are a publisher, a librarian, a bookseller or are just interested in Spanish writing, this is the newsletter for you. We hope you enjoy the read, and please let us know your thoughts.

New Spanish Books is a joint project of the Spanish Publishers' Association (FGEE) and the Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade (ICEX) with the assistance of the Economic and Commercial Office of the Spanish Embassy in London.
