The illustrator Satoe Tone was born in 1984 in Tsuruga (Japan). She graduated in Design and Illustration from Kyoto Seika University and began working as a designer for a children's clothing brand before moving to England to perfect her language skills. In 2010 she was selected to show her work at the Bologna Children's Book Fair and published her first book a year later with an Italian publishing house, which published her work again in 2012 with another title. That same year, Satoe decided to move to Milan, where she has lived ever since. In 2013 she won the International Bologna Book Fair - Fundación SM Illustration Prize for Pipo’s Journey. That same year she exhibited her work at the Society of Illustrators in New York and at the Ilustrarte exhibition in Lisbon. In 2015 Ediciones SM published two new illustrated titles by Satoe Tone: The Penguins’ Journey and Chocolate For You.
