Reyes Martínez was born in Madrid in May 1972. She has lived in Gijón (Asturias) since 2007, where she combines her work as a diagnostic radiography technician with her love of writing. In 2011, she wrote her first novel, Candela y el misterio de la puerta entreabierta (Candela and the Mystery of the Half-open Door), followed by Candela y el rey de papel (Candela and the Paper King, 2012), Candela y el cocinero de sueños (Candela and the Dream Cook, 2013) and Candela y el tren de las palabras clandestinas (Candela and the Train of Clandestine Words, 2014), all enthusiastically welcomed by child and young adult readers. In June 2013, she published her first noire novel, El arcano número 13 (The Arcane Number 13), in which she faced the new challenge of changing her child readership for an adult one. She has received two honorary mentions in literary prizes for her stories "La fuga" (Flight) and "No respire ni mueve" (Don't breathe or move").
